  • Northern Youths Urge Osinbajo To Allow The Igbos Have Biafra Peacefully

The coalition of northern youths which recently gave Igbos living in Northern Nigeria till October 1st to vacate theregion has written an open letter to Acting PresidentYemiOsinbajoasking him to allow Biafran secessionists succeed through peaceful means.

The group commended Osinbajofor initiating series of discussions with leaders from the north and south-east.

However, northern youths urged him to take “steps to facilitate the actualization of the Biafran nation in line with the principle of self-determination as an integral part of contemporary customary international law” because they believe the talks will yield no positive result.

The signatories to the letter include Ambassador Shettima Yerima, Joshua Viashman, Aminu Adam, Abdul-Azeez Suleiman and Nastura Ashir Sharif.

The group stated that the principle of self-determination has, since World War II become a part of the United Nations Charter which states in Article1(2), that one of the purposesof the UN is “to develop friendly relations among nations based on respect for the principle of equal rights and self-determination of peoples”.
